During superbowl XXXV (Ravens vs Giants - Giants lost as they will again this
year) E-Trade mocked PimentoLoaf.com
January 28, 2001 we will not forget. E-Trade also mocked our friends at
TieClasp.com, eSocks.com, and Pets.com
E-trade broadcast a commercial that showed a monkey wearing an etrade shirt
riding a horse through an area with empty run-down buildings with signs saying
TieClasp.com, Pimentoloaf.com, a very dirty Mazda Miata with a license plate that
said "DOT COMER", and an eSocks building that was being demolished. A sock
puppet similar to the one made famous by Pets.com fell near the monkeys feet.
The add finished with the words "Invest Wisely".
The Nasdaq Stock Market:
On March 10th 2000 The Nasdaq Stock Market Composite Index hit a high of
5,132.52 (stock sales price X outstanding shares for all stocks on the Nasdaq).
From March 10th 2000 the market gradually decreased hitting a low of 1,108.49 on
October 10, 2002. This was a 78.4% decrease.
Today January 30, 2008 the market closed at 2,349.00.
